The suction air preheater consists of a pot shaped burner housing which penetrates into the suction manifold and has ports to admit fresh air and to discharge combustion gases. Inside the burner housing is a pot shaped vaporiser into which protrudes an igniter, onto which injected fuel impinges. The vaporiser (5) is fixed to the bottom (6) of the burner housing (4). Pref. two tongues (9), moulded to the vaporiser, are led through slots in the bottom of the burner housing and angled downwards outside.
