PURPOSE:To accurately and clearly inform a user of the extent of arrival indicating the extent of the approach of the vehicle from a starting place to a destination adaptively to an actual travel feeling by calculating the extent of arrival. CONSTITUTION:This device has a means which calculates the actual travel distance from the starting place to the destination (step S1) and inputs destination coordinate data and current place coordinate data (steps S2 and S3); and an estimated travel distance from the current place to the destination is calculated (step S4) and the actual travel distance and estimated travel distance are substituted in an equation 1 to calculate the extent of arrival. The extent of arrival is reported on a display screen and by acoustic output. In another way, the actual travel time from the starting place to the current place and the estimated travel time from the current place to the destination are found and those are substituted in an equation 3 to calculate the extent of arrival in terms of time.
