PURPOSE:To measure the distance from a receiver to a transmitter from the detected value of a difference in arrival time between a light pulse and a sound pulse arriving at the receiver by simultaneously outputting the light pulses and sound pulses from the transmitter and detecting the difference time between each arrival time by the receiver so as to accurately measure the distance between the instrument and subject regardless of the position of the subject. CONSTITUTION:A transmission part 2 in a remote control part 1 outputs the sound pulses from a sound wave transmission part 4 while outputting the light pulses by a light transmission part 3. The reception part 6 in a camera main body 5 inputs signals of the light pulses and sound pulses from a photodetection part 6a and a sound wave detection part 6b. A time difference detection part 7 calculates the distance to the subject from the time difference between those two signals. A photographic condition setting part 8 puts the camera in focus on the subject and also determines the exposure conditions of an exposure part 9 according to the distance data. |
