In a photoelectric smoke sensor in which a light-emitting element (19) and a light-receiving element (26) are provided in a dark box (5), a mounting assembly wherein in order that the two elements (19, 26) can be easily and correctly mounted on a base plate (9) of the sensor, the elements (19, 26) are held in their respective holders (21, 28) which are then inserted in receiving seats (15, 16) that have been provided in the base plate (9) in advance, so that the two elements are engaged and held.
