<p>A device and a method for welding, which enables high quality welding to be applied to surface-treated metals such as galvanized steel plates while keeping the plates in close contact with each other. At the time of welding, auxiliary gas with which oxygen gas is mixed is jetted to a working point (9) of the lapped surface-treated metals (3a, 3b) such as galvanized steel plates from a space (7) surrounding an electrode (1) through a nozzle (8). When the surface-treated metals (3a, 3b) such as galvanized steel plates are welded in the atmosphere of auxiliary gas with which oxygen gas is mixed, the surface substance such as zinc reacts with oxygen to produce a solid oxide such as zinc oxide or zinc peroxide without generating gas such as zinc vapor between the lapped surface-treated metals (3a, 3b). Therefore, no blowhole, that blows off molten steel plates is generated and high quality welding is possible.</p> |
