The pump has the armature (3) of the electric drive motor provided with a coaxial inner flow passage (18) for the pumped medium. The armature (3) is formed from a number of armature discs (4,4a,4b) arranged axially one behind the other. Each of the discs has at least one spoke (14,15,16) projecting into the flow passage (18). The successive armature discs are angularly offset from one another to provide a helical flow path. Pref. each armature disc has a peripheral ring, formed in one piece, or a number of sections, each with a radial spoke (14,15,16) joined together adjacent their centre by a closed ring (13). ADVANTAGE - Compact pump with simplified drive, e.g. a.c. motor.
