PURPOSE:To attain the smooth KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion and the smooth input of characters without stopping the character input operation due to the operation for KANA/KANJI conversion for a word processor by preventing the deterioration of the overall lifetime of a keyboard caused by the wear of a specific key of the keyboard having the high using frequency and also by preventing the wrong decision a character string to be converted despite the input of characters carried out during the KANA/KANJI conversion. CONSTITUTION:A character input means 23 connected to a keyboard 21 is provided together with a treadle type input device 22 which is connected to the means 23 and contains the right and left pedals to which the 'conversion' and 'decision' keys of the keyboard 21 are assigned, and a KANA/KANJI converter means 24 which performs the KANA/KANJI conversion based on the character data given from the means 25 to carry on this conversion even if a character is inputted after the character string to be converted during execution of the KANA/KANJI conversion and adds the input character to the end of the conversion subject character string. |
