<p>PURPOSE:To enhance image resolution and also to enable signal processing, etc., utilizing information about the frequencies of reception signals by enabling reflected waves to be received without saturation. CONSTITUTION:Pulses whose half band width is as short as several nanoseconds are transmitted from a transmitter 1 to a transmitting antenna 2. The pulses are converted into electromagnetic waves and radiated into the ground. The radiated electromagnetic waves are propagated through the ground and reflected at buried pipes 30,40,50. The electromagnetic waves reflected are received again by a receiving antenna 3 and a reception signal is formed by a receiver 4. The reception signal is amplified by an amplifying portion 5 and attenuated by an STC curve computing portion 9 according to a specific STC curve.</p> |
