A so called "metal in gap", MIG, magnetic head is used for video signal recording the head consits of two halves that are separately processed. Each half block contains a core carrier consisting of a soft magnetic material, such as ferrite. Deposited on the end surfaces of the carrier material is a second soft magnetic material, such as 'sendust' (RTM) alloy. The saturation induction and the magnetostriction of this is higher than that of the ferrite. The blocks are coupled with a gap of 0.15 to 0.35 micrometers that is fitted with a non magnetic material.
