Chemical roughening of rubber mfd. from natural and/or synthetic rubber is new and comprises spraying a soln. of chlorine-cleaved acid of the type XCCl3, esp. trichloroisocyanuric acid in an acetate esp. ethyl acetate. A highly concentrated soln. is used and a small amt. of the soln. is atomised using air and precipitated on the rubber (claimed). The soln. conc. is 15-25 pref. 20%. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used for pre-treatment of shoe soles before glueing.
