A device for implementing a method wherein isothermal compression of a compressible fluid is provided by means of an incompressible fluid which is immiscible with said compressible fluid. The device comprises three containers (10, 20, 30) having inlets connected to the three outlets of a distributing valve (11) via ducts (10a, 20a, 30a), and outlets connected to the three inlets of a distributing valve (12) via ducts (10b, 20b, 30b). Said valves are driven by a motor (13) and connected to one another by a circuit (A) containing a centrifugal pump (16) and a cooler (17). The incompressible fluid from one container is pumped over to a compressible fluid container via the top thereof so that it passes therethrough and partially absorbs its heat of compression. The compressed fluid may then be used in a refrigeration generator which is connected to the containers and comprises a crystallizer/evaporator (18) and a container for a refrigerating fluid (19). |
