PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst having high activity and high selectivity, hardly producing decomposed product, simple in composition of the catalyst at a low cost by treating gamma-alumina and/or silica-alumina with a chlorofluoromethane in an inexpensive industrial production of an alkyladamandane. CONSTITUTION:gamma-alumina and/or silica-alumina is treated with a chlorofluoromethane expressed by CH4-(n+m)ClnFm (where n and m are integer of 1-3, n+m is 3 or 4) to obtain the catalyst for production of an alkyladamantane. A 12C alkyladamantane is produced by isomerization of perhydrocenaphthene with the catalyst. The catalyst is low in cost, simple in composition and easily produced. The Alkyl adamantane is obtained with high yield by the catalyst. |
