The vent valve to be used in heating radiators incorporates two separate sealing surfaces. The first and main seal is that formed between the opening (3) and sealing cone (18). This shuts the valve completely. The second seal is formed between lips (12) and a shank (14). This second seal ensures that, when the first seal is opened, the coolant in the radiator only flows out of the orifice (6) to which a drain tube may be fitted. This prevents fluid from the valve damaging furnishings, etc. through uncontrolled release.
