A polarizing film which is a resin film containing 0.001 to 15 parts by weight of a dichroic dye represented by the formula 1 <IMAGE> where in Q is -N=N- or -CH=CH-, R1, R2 are straight or branched alkyl groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R3 is hydrogen or methyl groups, based on 100 parts by weight of a hydrophobic resin, characterized in that said dichroic dye is oriented in the hydrophobic resin.
