CULTURE OF BACTERIUM BELONGING TO GENUS PSEUDOMONAS

PURPOSE:To obtain a bacterium of the genus Pseudomonas, containing an enzyme with high L-ASP decarboxylase activity in high yield without damaging activity in culturing the bacterium by adding an iron compound to a medium at the latter period of the culture. CONSTITUTION:In culturing a bacterium (e.g. Pseudomonas dacunhae ATCC 21,192) belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, containing Laspartic acid beta- decarboxylase, preferably 0.0001-0.01wt.% calculated as iron of an iron compound such as ferrous sulfate is added to a medium at the latter period of the culture. The culture is preferably carried out under an aerobic condition at 28-32 deg.C at pH7-8 for 10 hours to 2 days.
