Continuous furnace for heating glass sheets to their bending and/or quenching temperature, of the circular furnace type with a horizontal sole plate for support with hot gas (3) of annular shape. On the annular sole plate (3) the glass sheets are moved round, each with the aid of a jig (56) made of refractory sheet metal which also floats on the sole plate (3), from the loading station (6) as far as the discharge station (7). Each of the jigs (56) is mounted on the arm (17) of a roundabout (16) concentric with the sole plate (3). In the discharge station (7) the glass sheets heated to the bending and/or quenching temperature are removed from the furnace and transferred into a bending and/or quenching device arranged beside the furnace, by means of a suction tray (42) movable in the radial direction.
