The invention relates to the manufacture of insert slabs (spacer elements) intended to be used for the manufacture, hot and under very high pressure, of large-sized fibre-cement panels, which consists in: cold coating a moulding cavity (3) and a mould cover (5) with a demoulding substance compatible with the resin contained in the material to be moulded; arranging a dry web made from non-woven glass mat in the mould to form an external layer; arranging, on this web, several layers of unidirectional glass fabrics pre-impregnated with resin and stacked with different orientations; arranging, on this fabric stack, another dry web made from glass mat constituting another external layer; and, after closing the mould, carrying out a polymerisation treatment at a temperature of between 115 DEG C and 125 DEG C and under a pressure of between 3 and 5 bar; the mould (2) has, around the cavity (3), a groove (6) for collecting the resin excess which flows into it via a gap (9).
