<p>PURPOSE:To construct in small size a power assist mechanism driven by a motor furnished separately from a steering force transmitting mechanism part on a steering rod, and enhance the easiness in fabrication and assembly of the assist mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A steering force transmitting mechanism part 7 to transmit the force given from a steering wheel to the steering wheels to turn their heading is installed on a steering rod 5. On this rod in its position different from this transmitting mechanism part, a power assist mechanism 11 is installed for transmitting the steering assist force given by a motor 10. This power assist mechanism includes a body part 12 fitted at one side of a steering body 3 which holds the rod while it is allowed to slide in the axial direction and its rotation is restrained. This body 12 of the mechanism has No.1 installation hole 15 through which a nut 14 is fitted on the rod from one side. No.2 installation hole 18 is provided, through which a gear 17 meshing with a nut furnished on the motor side rotation transmitting shaft 16 is installed from the other side while in parallel with the No.1 installation hole.</p> |
