An oxidation treatment apparatus for metal pipes, adapted to carry out the passivation of metal pipes used for, especially, a super-clean gas piping system and an ultra-high vacuum apparatus. A holding portion of a retainer is made tubular, and a tapering section is provided on the outer circumferential surface of the holding portion, the retainer being further provided with a spring so that it can be displaced. Therefore, even when the stainless steel pipes vary in inner diameter, they can be retained easily in the holding portion. Even when the stainless steel pipes vary in length, the retainer is pressed constantly against a stainless steel pipe being treated. The oxidizing gas diffused outward from a pipe being treated can be discharged to the outside of the oxidation treatment furnace without causing the gas to touch the pipe.
