PURPOSE:To increase an amount of overcutter and to make it possible to excavate a tunnel having a greater section by providing two jacks in parallel across the center of a cutter head and at right angles to a shield shaft, and connecting the front ends of two jacks to one overcutter. CONSTITUTION:An overcutter 5 is formed into a plate shape and a fan shape, and a large number of cutter bits 51 are planted on the surface. A storing window 42 having the same shape as that of the overcutter 5 is notched to the front of a cutter head 41 to form. After that, two expansion jacks 52 are provided in parallel across the center of the cutter head 41 at specific intervals and at right angles to a shield shaft. The front ends of the two expansion jacks 52 are connected to the overcutter 5 through the storing window 42. According to the constitution, a jack longer than a radius of the cutter head can be used, and damage of the overcutter can be prevented in the case of excavation.
