PURPOSE: To best select an allowable code book vector by generating a vector code book having regular vector elements in pairs, having been adjusted in advance and satisfying a consecutive condition. CONSTITUTION: Vectors in a vector code book 30 are accessed regularly. In the rule, vectors accessed continuously differ by K-elements (K is smaller than number of vector elements). However, it is not required for the book 30 to store actual code book vectors but to store proper expression in formation of code book vectors and information to obtain code book vectors. Then, vectors in pairs stored in the book 30 are selected for keeping the consecutive condition not in excess of K element difference of adjacent vectors in the code book to the accessed vector elements in pairs, and then the access speed is increased by means of vectors existing between the access interval. Thus, the vector- elements are best selected at a speed nearly equal to that of a parallel computing method with the size and the complication of the hardware close to that of a series computing method. |
