PURPOSE:To prevent a decrease in wavelength conversion efficiency as a result of the deviation of the linear polarization direction of a fundamental wave from the state of forming predetermined angle with a crystal optical axis due to the phase difference of the fundamental wave in said crystal in an optical wavelength converter for converting the fundamental wave into the second harmonics by two-axis crystal having a nonlinear optical effect. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 11 to be incident on KTP crystal 10 as fundamental wave is generated from two Nd;YVO4 rods 16A and 16B respectively. One rod 16A is arranged so as to align the linear polarization direction of the laser beam 11 with the Z-axis direction of KTP crystal 10, and another rod 16B is arranged so as to align the linear polarization direction of the laser beam 11 with the Y' axis direction of the KTP crystal 10. |
