PURPOSE:To prevent a short circuit due to nickel deposited in a matrix and extend the life of a molten carbonate-type fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:A cathode 4 and an anode 7 are electrically insulated in an electrolyte-retaining matrix 5 and a metal mesh 6 or a metal porous body having a larger surface area than the parts of the cathode and the anode facing each other is set. A part of the mesh 6 or the metal porous body is stretched out to an oxidizing agent manifold 11 to be exposed to the oxidizing agent atmosphere and a catalyst 13 able to reduce oxygen is set in the part of the metal mesh or the metal porous body exposed to the oxidizing agent atmosphere. |
