PURPOSE:To greatly reduce the cost by using a common surface plate for a scanning optical system which uses a rotary polygon mirror. CONSTITUTION:A large-sized rotary polygon mirror rotation device 3 consisting of a rotary polygon mirror 3a and a large-sized motor, and a small-sized rotary polygon mirror rotation device assembly composed of a small-sized rotary polygon mirror rotation device consisting of a rotary polygon mirror 5a and a small-sized motor, and a support base 6 for supporting the small-sized rotary polygon mirror rotation device are fixed on the optical surface plate 1 through a common adapter 4. Those two kind of rotary polygon mirror rotation devices 3 and 5 can selectively be fixed on the common optical surface plate 1 and optical surface plates 1 need not be formed individually, so the manufacture cost of the optical scanning device which uses the rotary polygon mirrors can greatly be reduced. |
