An application-chamber is provided at the doctorelement between the outlet from the chamber containing a coating compound and a strip of material to be coated and the counter-roll carrying it. The applicationchamber is defined, in relation to the doctor-element, by a baffle-plate and is held at a pressure above atmospheric pressure. Between the outlet or baffleplate, the strip of material and the counter-roll, the application-chamber is divided in the direction of the doctor-element (coating blade), and a gap exists between the end of the guide-wall and the coating blade, the width of the said gap being between 4 and 10 mm. This makes it possible to apply a satisfactory coating even with very low surface-application-weights. |
