- In a production region (A) lying on top of a water-bearing region (B), which it is desired to simulate by injection of a hot fluid such as, for example, steam, a withdrawal drain (1) is drilled close to the interface with the water-bearing region and a deviated (directional) injection drain (2) (for example horizontal) is drilled into the part closest to the roof of the formation. Hot fluid is then injected into the formation (A), in order to scavenge the formation and drain the effluents by gravity, and use is made of the pressure of the underlying water, which has the effect of allowing more efficient drainage of the effluents, including those which, by the stimulation, become trapped in the water-bearing region. - Application to the stimulation of oil-bearing formations. <IMAGE>
