PURPOSE:To surely detect not only the unsetting of a fixing unit, but also the completion of the connection of a driving/connecting gear. CONSTITUTION:In an image forming device having the fixing unit 10 capable of being attached/detached to/from a device main body, and disconnecting the power transmission passage of the unit 10 with the driving source of a device main body side by driving/connecting gears 23 and 24, a gear connection detecting means 50 detecting whether the power transmission passage is connected or not by the gears 23 and 24, and a control means controlling the driving source so as not to drive the fixing unit 10 when the power transmission passage is not connected, based on the detection information of the detecting means 50, are provided. On the other hand, the detecting means 50 can detect the power transmission passage is connected or not, for instance, after a member detecting the temp. of a heater inside the fixing unit 10 is electrically connected with the detecting circuit of the device main body side, or after the heater is electrically connected with the heating circuit of the device main body side. |
