A method is described for producing a dimensionally stable, three-dimensionally deformed, planar textile material in which one or more layers of a thermoformable textile material made of yarns, preferably a knitted material, which contains reinforcing fibres and a thermoplastic, fibrous matrix material melting at a lower temperature than the reinforcing fibres, is brought into the desired shape for the core material at a temperature at which the fibrous thermoplastic matrix material melts by a moulding process taking place with superficial enlargement, then the temperature is again reduced below the melting point of the thermoplastic matrix material and the deformed material is kept in the mould until the thermoplastic matrix material is sufficiently solidified and subsequently the deformed textile material thus obtained is removed from the mould. <IMAGE> |
