PURPOSE:To provide the picture signal processing method and device in which occurrence of moire is suppressed even when an input original picture includes a regular pattern to obtain a sharp picture. CONSTITUTION:A picture processing section 20 smoothes original picture information, averages the obtained smoothed signal to obtain an averaging signal, a difference between the smoothing signal and the averaging signal is obtained, and only when the absolute value of the difference is larger than a prescribed threshold level, sharpness processing is applied to the smoothing signal and in other cases, the smoothing signal or the averaging signal is used to implement half-tone screen processing. |
