PURPOSE:To prevent the reflection or transmission of a laser light of a laser machining device for engraving a character or pattern to ensure a sharp and rapid engraving by coloring at least a surface of a ceramic raw material of a seal material. CONSTITUTION:As a raw material for a seal material, ceramics, such as alumina, zirconia, silicon oxide, or glass, is used. At least a surface of the raw material is colored. In this manner, a laser light emitted from a laser machining device for engraving a character or pattern on the surface of the seal material is prevented from reflecting or transmitting. The seal material is colored all over by using titanium, chromium, manganese, cobalt, nickel, cadmium sulfide, cadmium selenide, iron oxide, or the like as a coloring agent. As a coloring agent for the surface of the seal material, ink, such as paints or pigments, is applied. In this manner, when the surface is irradiated with a laser light, the laser light is prevented from reflecting or transmitting at/through the surface of the seal material, whereby a sharp outline can be engraved. |
