Colour printer for printing a moving strip of paper with colours. The printer comprises a number of printing units, each with a plate cylinder, a printing cylinder and a strip-adjusting means. There is a pair of feed rollers for feeding the strip into the printing machine, as well as a pair of pulling rods for pulling the strip out of the printing machine. The plate cylinder is suitable for a printing plate, which has a greater circumference than the length of the printing plate, to be attached to it. The printing cylinder is also suitable for pressing the strip against the printing plate which is attached to the plate cylinder. There is also a motor for driving the said plate cylinders on the printing unit. A reversible motor for driving the feed rollers and the pulling rollers is provided in order to move the strip backwards and forwards as desired. Moreover, speed- control means are provided for controlling the speed of the said reversible motor.
