PURPOSE:To draw characters and diagrams with desired colors on the surface of a solid material by irradiating laser beam on a properly selected substance piled or permeated on the surface of the material to be printed. CONSTITUTION:It is desirable that a material to be printed is arranged in a vacuum atmosphere and a substance to be piled or permeated on the surface of the material is supplied by ion implantation. In a vacuum vessel, for example, a scanning stage 3 for laying a material 2, ion guns 7-9 for jetting different ion species respectively, and a laser gun 10 are arranged. When printing is to be done with a single color, while an ion species 11 for coloring a desired color is irradiated on the surface of the material 2, the stage 3 is scanned in the directions of X and Y in such a manner to draw print shape and the ion implantation is performed. Next, while laser beam is emitted from the laser gun 10, an ion implantation area is traced. When the irradiation is performed formed by combining different ion species optionally from the ion guns 7-9, color can be adjusted by quantity and ratio of iron species. |
