PICTURE DATA REPRODUCTION SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To attain efficient edit processing by sufficiently reducing the picture element density while the picture quality is kept. CONSTITUTION:A picture data recording device 24 sets an interleave rate in advance according to the picture element density of an edit device 26. Then a scanner 22 sets a prescribed multiple factor by taking a reproduction magnification, the picture element density and the interleave factor into account and a magnification conversion circuit 32 processes the picture data with the setting magnification and sharpness emphasis processing is applied to the resulting picture data. Then the picture data is subject to interleave processing by an interleave circuit 48 of the picture data recording device 24 and the result is stored in a RAM 46. Then the picture data is transferred to the edit device 26, in which prescribed edit processing is implemented and an interpolation circuit 50 of the picture data recording device 24 applies the interpolation processing to the data and the result is transferred to a picture output device 28. The picture output device 28 uses a half-tone screen processing circuit 52 to apply half-tone screen processing to the picture data and a film master plate as a dot picture is generated.
