<p>PURPOSE:To improve the light utilization efficiency of the plate like polarizing element, the polarized light conversion unit equipped with the element, and the image projection device equipped with the unit and to make the image projection device compact. CONSTITUTION:The unit 20 of the plate like polarizing element consists three incidence-side prisms 211-213, two projection-side prisms 221 and 222, 1st and 2nd 1/4-wavelength plates 231 and 232 provided on the contact surfaces between the 1st incidence-side prism 211 and 1st and 2nd projection-side prisms 221 and 222, a 1st total reflecting mirror 251 provided on the contact surface between the 2nd incidence-side prism 212 and 1st projection-side prism 221, and a 2nd total reflecting mirror 252 provided on the contact surface between the 3rd incidence-side prism 213 and 2nd projection-side prism 222.</p> |
