<p>PURPOSE:To simplify entire mechanism and improve steering feeling when a motor driven power assisting mechanism is used togehter with a variable steering force transmission ratio mecanism which transmits the steering force from the steering wheel to the steered wheel. CONSTITUTION:Part of a steering gear mechanism 5 for transmitting the steering force from the steering wheel to the stored wheel is provided with a variable transmission ratio mechanism 10 for changing the steered angle on the steered wheel side relative to the steering wheel operation angle. A power assist mechanism 30 is employed to transmit the torque of an electric motor 20 to part of the steering gear mechanism 5. The variable transmission ratio mechanism and the power assist mechanism are arranged to be selectively driven and controlled by means of the single electric motor 20 according to the vehicle speed.</p> |
