The invention relates to a method and device for the subsequent treatment of returnable packaging, such as bottles, in order to remove the bottles from a conveyor belt K. In the method, a returnable packaging P is guided onto conveyor belts 11a, 11b which, between them, form a narrowing gap C, with the result that the returnable packaging comes into contact with the adjoining conveyor belts 11a, 11b. In the method, the conveyor belts 11a, 11b are moved in such a manner that mutually opposite belt sections 11a', 11b' move in the same direction. In this way, the returnable packaging which has been moved into the gap C by means of the belt sections can be removed from the conveyor belt K, by means of which the returnable packaging is moved into the gap C between the conveyor belts 11a, 11b. <IMAGE>
