A grab bucket (1) is actuated by a thrust cylinder (2), the rod (3) of which includes, at its end, a threaded end piece (25) onto which is screwed a nut (20) forming an adjustable stop piece. A support (23), resting on the nut (20), supports pivot pins (19) for the buckets (15). An internal frustoconical surface (31), delimiting a central bore of the support (23) can come to bear against an external frustoconical surface (33) carried by a sleeve (39) secured to the rod (3). After a certain length of use, the play wear appearing on the contacting surfaces between the frustoconical surfaces (31) and (33) and between the planar surfaces of contact between the support (23) and the nut (20) are taken up simultaneously, this being by means of a single adjustment of the position of the nut (20) on the threaded end piece (25).
