In order to effect, in automated fashion, the movement of uncooperative objects, such as aeroplanes in an airport, it is proposed to couple the moving aeroplane to a lightweight interface vehicle (B) equipped with specific referencing systems (Q1, Q2, 103), then to bring together the aeroplane pushing the vehicle (B) with a tractor vehicle (A) travelling in the same direction and provided with guidance systems (P1, P2, 94, 102) which cooperate with the referencing means of the interface vehicle. Impacts due to the uncooperative nature of the aeroplane are thus avoided. <IMAGE>
