A foldable intermediate bulk container with a preferred capacity of about 1000 litres, capable of being stacked both in its erected position and in its folded position, comprises a rectangular base (10), four walls (21, 22, 23, 24) and a lid (35, 36) which are all interconnected. Each wall is pivotally connected to the base (lo), at least three of them at different heights from the support (17) of the base, ascending by at least one wall thickness. It is preferably adapted for liquid or free-flowing powder. The base (10) may incorporate the function of a pallet into the structure of the container and may include means for facilitating emptying the container. The container may use an inner pocket (20) for the liquid or powder.
