A method of drying the lining of steel heat ladle characterized in that steel ingots heated to a temperature higher than 800 degrees C are put into a newly lined ladle and kept in there under an untight cover until their temperature falls to 450 degrees C, and further they are replaced with other high-temperature ingots, whereas the drying process is continued until the external surface of the casing reaches a temperature between 60 and 80 degrees C.<IMAGE>
