The two-stroke i.c. engine has a crankcase pump and fuel injection. A lubricant trap (4) projects as a funnel into the interior of the cylinder, but outside the movement path of the connecting rod (3). A run-off opening (5) has a tubular section (6), and lubricant flowing off the cylinder wall (2) is caught in the trap and delivered to a sump past the crankshaft (7). ADVANTAGE - Efficient lubricant collection from the entire circumference of the cylinder and returning it to sump without contact with rotary parts.
