The transistor with a current detector property has a main transistor region (6) on a substrate region (2) for feeding a main current through the transistor and a number of measurement transistor regions (7) to detect the main current. The main transistor region has a base (B), collector (C) and emitter (E) connection. The base and collector connections are commonly connected to the main and meeasurement regions. The measurement regions are arranged separately and each has an emitter region. The measurement emitter connections are connected to a single contact. USE/ADVANTAGE - The trnaisstor ensures accurate current measurment even when the surface current distribution varies with time-varying heat or corresp. variables arising from a switching process.
