Novel polypeptides have the useful biological property of specific toxicity to larvae of the Dipteran family. One of these novel polypeptides has a molecular weight of 35000+/-3000 daltons. It can be obtained by proteolysis of a novel polypeptide of about 66000+/-4000 daltons. Both polypeptides can be obtained from a culture of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis.
