A heat-insulating supporting element for structures is formed from building elements (1', 1'', ...) and has at least one longitudinal groove (2) which extends in its longitudinal direction, is formed from a base (5) and side walls (6, 7) and in which a steel insert (4) sealed with concrete (3) is inserted. To increase the thermal resistance in such a supporting element and to achieve a thermal insulation of a high-insulating brick wall, at least one strip (8) of heat-insulating material which extends over the length of the supporting element is inserted in the latter, the broad side (9) of the strip (8), starting from the base (5), extending parallel to the height (10) of the longitudinal groove (2) and the narrow side (11) extending parallel to the width (12) of the longitudinal groove (2).
