The mechanical perforating of cardboard boxes is carried out with a perforating tool while the box is subjected to a one sided vacuum. Several tools are timed to work one after the other, and move along a path parallel to the surface of the box. The machine comprises a suction bell (11) connected to a vacuum pump, and cutters (14) located near the bell (11) with adjustable depth. There can be several suction bells located concentrically. USE/ADVANTAGE - The frequency of cutting mistakes is reduced whilst efficiency is increased.
