The electrical characteristics of the electrical DC motors allow the use of the existing overhead power supply lines. The housing of the integrated DC motor rotates with the track wheel (1), whilst its armature is fixed with the motor shaft (3) rigidly in the wheel frame (4). Each track wheel is steerable about an imaginary vertical axis. The front wheels and the rear wheels are coupled by tie rods. Guide wheels (10) are arranged in the front of the track wheel or in the front and in the rear of the track wheel, and ensure the track guidance. An ultrasonic unit, with a sensor arranged in the front or respectively a sensor arranged in the front and the rear of the track wheel, is used for a non-contact track guidance. ADVANTAGE - Suitable for short time working, without waiting times and timetables. gives quicker travel and can run on existing lines without large cost and risk. Can be operated automatically without driver. Rubber tyres give longer working life.
