摘要 A scanning unit (15) scans the relative movement of the ultrasonic wave and the sample (S), in order to scan the sample (S) with the ultrasonic wave. A detection unit (8) detects the echo components contained in the output signal from the ultrasonic pulse transmission/receiving units (1,3,4,6) and delivers a detection signal. Adjusting units (21,25) are provided for the image quality to take in the detection signal from the detection unit (8), at least adjust either the brightness or the contrast of the detected signal, and to deliver an adjusted signal as an image signal. Adjusting amount control units (22,26) are provided for adjusting at least either the adjusting amounts of brightness or contrast in the image quality adjusting units (21,25), depending on at least either the brightness value or the contrast value of the image signal, delivered from the image quality adjusting units (21,25). ADVANTAGE - Brightness and contrast of ultrasonic image adjusted automatically, depending on acoustic characteristics of object being examine to optimum value so that complicated adjustment of image quality is no longer necessary.
