FIREPROOFING PANEL SYSTEM

Panels 10 are formed of fireproofing material such as an intumescent. Lap joints are formed between adjacent panels and a metal mesh 18 embedded in an underneath ledge 12 of the lap joint allows the panels to be attached together by screws 56 which engage the mesh 18 . The panels may be supported on a corrugated metal decking 52 attached to the substrate by screws 54. Screws 56 attach the panels to the decking 52 but remain clear of the substrate to reduce thermal conduction through to the substrate. Panels 110 may be mounted directly on a substrate 120, by screws 122 and metal angle brackets 128. Preferably a metal foil 116 is provided on the underside of the panels 110 to reflect heat back into the panel material and prevent hot gasses entering spaces behind the panels.
