<p>PURPOSE:To surely detect a position of a magnetic tape running whatever speed in traveling the magnetic tape by reading a target value detecting signal to be outputted from a target value detecting means. CONSTITUTION:In the subject magnetic tape transport device, first of all, the magnetic tape 1 is transported at a fixed apeed for a given period of time, and meanwhile, a total area of the magnetic tape wound around a supply reel 2 and a take-up reel is calculated inside the device, and is stored in a memory 9. Then, under the holding state of this stored value, rotating periods of the supply reel and the take-up reel are measured, and the measured rotating periods of both reels are stored in the memory, and from the total area value of the magnetic tape held in the memory, winding diameters of the magnetic tape wound around both reel parts are calculated to be compared with target winding diameter values. By repeating such operations in a fixed period, the magnetic tape position can surely be detected at whatever speed is required for transporting the magnetic tape.</p> |
