PURPOSE:To enable it to check any locking action of a one-way clutch and an engaging shock due to a changeover from low speed gear steps to high speed gear steps of an auxiliary transmission, in a continuously variable transmission for a vehicle provided with this transmission with the auxiliary transmission which is selected to the low speed gear step, where a power transmission route is released by a one-way clutch at time of negative torque driving, and to the high speed gear step lower in gear ratio than this low speed gear step. CONSTITUTION:In a selector control means 186, when a car speed SPD is lower than a predetermined judging reference car speed SPDo, an auxiliary transmission 18 is selected from a high speed gear step to a low speed gear step, while if acceleration G of a vehicle is lower than a predetermined negative judging reference acceleration Go, even in a state that the car speed SPD is more than the judging reference acceleration SPDo, the auxiliary transmission 18 is selected from the high speed gear step to the low speed gear step. |
